babyAccording to the UNICEF report, it is estimated that there are 210 million orphans worldwide. Every 2.2 seconds another orphan ages out with no family to belong to and no places to call home and studies have shown that 10% – 15% of these children commit suicide before they reach age eighteen. These studies also show that 60% of the girls become prostitutes and 70% of the boys become hardened criminals.

“Children are the world's most valuable resource and its best hope for the future.” – John F. Kennedy

Our Heavenly Father never intended for us to live as orphans or without a home. His plan even before creation was to have a family. Our vision here at House Madalitsho is not only to provide a safe and healthy environment, but to also help restore The Father’s original plan of family. We no longer want to see the orphan spirit overtake the lives of His precious children.

“Each day of our lives we make deposits in the memory banks of our children.” – Charles R. Swindoll

Studies show that if a child decides to receive Jesus before the age of seven, there is an 80% chance of them staying with Him for the rest of their life. One of our biggest prayers for the little ones in our care is that they would have an overwhelming experience of The Father’s love, so when the time comes for them to be able to make their own choices they chose Him.

House Madalitsho is a house of safety for children who get taken away from some of the most horrific and dangerous home life situations. Safety care means that they can only stay with us for ninety days, providing a temporary solution, in hopes that they can someday be placed into a permanent home solution.

In the last year we have cared for thirteen children, three of which being our own, however, that still means there are ten others that need to be cared for as well. We have had ten extra mouths to feed, ten others to provide clothes for; ten extra hugs to give at night, and ten uniquely different personalities in our home. While the numbers can make it sound a bit intimidating, and it can be a little overwhelming at times it has been extremely rewarding to see the transformation in these children’s lives of which they once were to whom they are when they leave our home.

Out of the ten kids in our care seven of them have completed their time here with us. Two have been successfully adopted, three have been place in permanent foster families, and the last two have been moved out of safety care, and have currently been placed permanently placed in an orphanage, because their biological mother has not agreed to letting them be adopted.

Currently, we have a five month old baby girl who has a family anxiously waiting for her, and will be adopted in a months’ time. We have a one and a half month old baby boy who will be adoptable in January or February 2015. Also, we have a two year little old boy who has been with us over a year, and it is unclear what is going to happen with him.

Now there is my family! In the front from left to right - our beautiful daughter, Zenika (16yrs) our two boys Johan (11yrs), and Dirk (9yrs), then (back row) myself, and my husband Johan. God has truly blessed us!

As you can see a lot is happening here that it is constantly keeping us on our toes. Each child, including our own children, has specific needs that we as their parents/spiritual parents need to meet. It is draining, both physically and financially.

baby02To give you an idea in order for us to keep House Madalitsho up and running sufficiently and effectively it costs between R17, 000-R20, 000 a month. We are currently in need of six breathing pads for the babies - R800 each. On average we are going through 1.8 kilos of formula a week and we are in such a need for it. We also are desperately looking for a sponsor to help with the cost of home schooling for the children. I ask you to please pray with us, and prayerfully consider partnering with us.
